I've been doing the mundane life things of trying to manage a family of 6, sometimes managing sometimes not :)

But I found a whole boat of crazy that must be implemented....  look at those ladies!  Now this is something to have fun with!

This is the second try at the goffered veil and I do say this one worked!  Just cartrige pleating a strip on the front edge does not work well, the ruffle turns straight up and you don't see the edge of it.  I would have liked one or two more ruffles, but this will do :)

by the way... livejournal is not at livejouranal... just saying :)

Nothing gets done around here for Birthday part season :)  Libby had a sleep over and Ben went bowling and lazer tag.  Both had a great time... but Mamma needs to make hats kiddos :)

The fram air filter hat is still going... and going... and going...  I can't work on it around Maggie 'cause she is summer filthy and I don't want her to grubby up my white linen.  I also have it too wide, again so that means another few hours of shredding, oh well it will kick butt when it is done though!

I'm finishing a few other hats that I started a while ago in the mean time... working on the last bits of  hat in the Marriage at Cana  By Gerard David.  This one:

And working on the last bit of this one shown here by Gerard  Horenbout...

This one is based off of this find, and is the last of the red/orange wool fabric I had :)

This one is based on the extant hat found on this site and in the book Woven into Earth.

The real interesting thing about this hat is see how different it is if the gore is worn in the front vs worn in the back...

This hood is part of my theme of what happened to hoods over time.  this one is one of the simple ones without much of a pipe.

my hood, it came out a little smaller than I wanted, but it fits me perfectly.  Not my husband who I was making it for :)

I have picked my 50 hats, I've done only 14 :)  But I have researched and found pictures of what I want to do.

Have I been working on actually making hats in the last few weeks, well no :)  It was Easter and all, I needed to clean my house for the annual sister in law visit. :(  But now that is over and I'm trying to recover from my Easter candy stupor!

I'm sure my list will change but that is ok with me.  I have a plan and that is what I need.

I'm back on the air filter hat and I have now shredded many many yards of white linen into 4 inch strips.  Now let the starching, ironing and sewing begin.

:)

"Quite possibly, it comes from the 15th Century when tall pointed hats were used as dunce caps and similar hats were popular fashion in London"
